This piece came from a place of frustration. It started out as something entirely different. It was dense with color and an experiment that I had tried failed completely. However, I liked the colors that I had chosen. Then I asked the question ‘Where do I go next?’. I couldn’t throw it away. There was far too much in on the paper to try to wipe off. It would have been a monumental mess of grand proportions. I started thinking about my question again ‘where do I go next?’ and started heading towards that. I started creating patches of white space by using isopropyl alcohol to remove ink from areas. I started going in four directions with it. Before I knew it, I had a piece that is pulling the eye in those different directions. It took me a couple of days of working off and on with it. I still wasn’t sure about it. I took a picture of it and asked a few people what they thought of it. I had been way too close to it and had lost perspective and direction. A lot of folks really...
I have been an artist all my life, ever since I could hold a pencil. I have always loved to draw and paint. My styles have varied over the years from realism to abstract and everything in between. The mediums I most enjoy working with are: oil, prismacolor, charcoal, graphite, watercolor, pen & ink, alcohol ink, and acrylic. Currently I am experiencing a mammoth amount of creative freedom working on abstract art. In 2013 I donated one of my kidneys to a young woman who had only been born with one very diseased kidney. Since then she has been thriving and going to college and living her life. I consider this such a privilege and i'm so happy I was a match for her. I have lived all over the country.
