Description
Soul Searching is exactly what the title says … searching one’s own soul … for answers or meaning. There are times in life where it seems like things are just clicking along and going fantastically well. Then there are times when it seems like your soul is being sucked out of your body. Nothing left but a questioning brain surrounded by tissue and bone. Nothing more. I know there is more. I believe in a creator. We live in a fallen world. Evil and corruption are around every corner. It’s all we see if that’s all we allow ourselves to see. I try to choose to see good in people. But sometimes it’s just hard. The days are long and bleak, and the nights are unending! Then something happens that turns it all around instantly. A paradigm shift. All that means is taking the negative cycle our brains can sometimes get into and break it. Who knows what does it? Sometimes for me it’s a surprise snowstorm that leaves pillowy snow that covers the brown winter landscape and transforms it into a winter wonderland. The sunshine hitting the snow that creates crystals and diamond shimmers everywhere. Snap! Cycle broken. At least temporarily.
If something like that can change our entire frame of mind, whether good or bad then…what is it about our souls that are so fragile? That such a fundamental change can happen so easily and so quickly? I say it’s feeling our souls connected to something bigger. Something our brains can’t possibly understand. But when we have a soul search like that then it leads me to believe that there is something magnificent at work that we can’t touch or see … but is very much there. Closer than our own skin.
