Moon and Sun is a fun little piece I created in a program called ‘Painter’. I also did some of the work on it in Photoshop. I have always drawn caricature faces and for some reason, I have always enjoyed drawing the sun with a face. I had an idea to create a piece where the moon is rising, and the sun is setting, and they catch a fleeting glimpse right before they pass each other. They always try but it’s only for a split second as they go about their assigned duties … once in the morning, and once in the evening. They can never be together. They will forever only catch glances out of the corner of their eye. They long to know each other but know they never will. It is not meant to be. This destiny is forever…passing each other in the sky. But what if?

This colorful and very bold piece was so much fun to create. I usually work in paint and ink as well as drawing. I decided to take that skill to my computer to see what I could accomplish. One thing I will say for digital art, the undo button is invaluable! Oh, for undo in real life! I will be doing more digital here and there in the future. I’ll do both … for as long as I possibly can.

I hope this piece brings a bit of mystery, wonder and sense of fun and adventure to your space.
