Description
This piece took me months to complete. I started out by drawing an outline of my own hand and then decided to make many hands and overlap them randomly. I started to distort some of them by shining a light over my hand and having it cast a distored version of my hand onto the board and then I drew that distorted version in spots, especially around the edges. All of the hands are a version of my own hands at actual size. Again, some are strangely distorted due to the shadow casting effect. From there I decided that each hand would have a unique pen and ink design within it. There are so many hands on different levels it becomes difficult to tell where the hands/fingers are vs where the background is. This is on purpose. Initially I wanted to have some of these hands have wire as part of them to look like rings. I used various metals (copper, aluminum, etc) to make the rings. They are actual 3D pieces of wire on the original piece. This one took several weeks to complete do to the intricate designs and patterns. I didn't want to rush anything. It was a lot of fun to create but was also very tedious! Had known on the outset how long it was going to actually take I might not have attempted such a complex piece. However, the end result is really interesting and I'm ultimately glad I made it. Hope you enjoy it too!
