Painting - Alcohol In On Craft Plastic Paper
Description
Flyin’ Home was initially inspired by the the alcohol ink colors, indigo and espresso. As I worked on this the ink started moving in ways that I have never seen them move before. I discovered something in moving inks on this one. The soft wispy edges that have feathery appearances to them. I continued this technique for the rest of the piece. I absolutely love how this one turned out and it felt like a piece that just took flight in my heart. I then realized that the composition wasn’t quite right, and I went in with a tiny paint brush and brought some lines and details out. I had to force myself to stop on this one! I loved working on this one so much and I wanted to keep that flow going. I can always do more though. But nothing like discovering a new technique. Alcohol ink is endlessly fascinating to me and new things are possible with it in every piece I work on. Discovery is half the fun! This one represents freedom. Freedom of flight in our dreams. Freedom to go where we want just by jumping up a little and we take flight. I have a recurring dream that I can fly. It’s always a little bit different but the core theme is that I just walk through a specific doorway and then I have the ability. It’s amazing and I always hate it when those dreams end. I want them to go on forever! This piece represents flying in my dreams. Perhaps flying when I die … goin' home. Flyin' away home ...
