Emotional Motion is one of those pieces that can mean two different things, especially to different people. This piece came from a place in my soul that is afraid. Every day. It has an aching that is hard to pinpoint. I know it’s a lie though. Fear that you can’t place is always a lie. I know I have the light of the Holy Spirit permeating my soul. Occasionally though, you have to get these things out of your soul and into the light where they no longer have a hold on you any longer. That’s what happened here. The colors (Green, Pink, and Purple) are not colors that typically go well together. They often mix and make muddy colors. I was purposeful in that I didn’t let them mix. I wanted this combination and I wanted the challenge of it. Sure, there are rules with colors and what compliments another color … and so on. But rules are meant to be broken, right? At least, I think so. This one turned out really cool. I tried to keep enough negative space to make the composition work...
I have been an artist all my life, ever since I could hold a pencil. I have always loved to draw and paint. My styles have varied over the years from realism to abstract and everything in between. The mediums I most enjoy working with are: oil, prismacolor, charcoal, graphite, watercolor, pen & ink, alcohol ink, and acrylic. Currently I am experiencing a mammoth amount of creative freedom working on abstract art. In 2013 I donated one of my kidneys to a young woman who had only been born with one very diseased kidney. Since then she has been thriving and going to college and living her life. I consider this such a privilege and i'm so happy I was a match for her. I have lived all over the country.
