This piece was very interesting to create. First of all, alcohol ink is difficult to control. It goes where it wants to go. But I wanted to find a way to get some shapes in there that were purposeful. I was able to get some circles and spirals and other various fun things in there. This one took me quite a while. There was a lot of stopping and starting over in this one. But the end result is fun and colorful! I call it 'Curious Route' because the ways in which I had to create the shapes were not typical to how you would make them in with any other medium. Alcohol ink is in a class all its own! Now that I know what I know, I will be creating more 'purposeful' pieces. They're difficult and somewhat tedious. But I'm not one to back down from a challenge.
An interesting little tidbit about this piece (and many others) ... I have found the back of yard signs (for sale, yard sale, beware of dog, etc) to be an excellent surface for alcohol ink. They are very sturdy and the type of...
I have been an artist all my life, ever since I could hold a pencil. I have always loved to draw and paint. My styles have varied over the years from realism to abstract and everything in between. The mediums I most enjoy working with are: oil, prismacolor, charcoal, graphite, watercolor, pen & ink, alcohol ink, and acrylic. Currently I am experiencing a mammoth amount of creative freedom working on abstract art. In 2013 I donated one of my kidneys to a young woman who had only been born with one very diseased kidney.
