My favorite tree is the Aspen tree of Colorado. They glow they create is mesmerizing ... at any time of year. The sound the leaves make when the wind blows in hypnotic. The flutter sound of the leaves cannot be described and can only be understood once experienced. They are even beautiful in the winter. The white bark of the trees against the snow is just magical and beautiful.
This painting was inspired by these Aspens. The ink does what it does and goes where it goes. The black here is representational of shadows and the swift change from autumn to winter. If you blink you might miss it entirely. It's a silent transition but has an impact on the psyche like no other tree/forest I know of.
I have been an artist all my life, ever since I could hold a pencil. I have always loved to draw and paint. My styles have varied over the years from realism to abstract and everything in between. The mediums I most enjoy working with are: oil, prismacolor, charcoal, graphite, watercolor, pen & ink, alcohol ink, and acrylic. Currently I am experiencing a mammoth amount of creative freedom working on abstract art. In 2013 I donated one of my kidneys to a young woman who had only been born with one very diseased kidney. Since then she has been thriving and going to college and living her life. I consider this such a privilege and i'm so happy I was a match for her. I have lived all over the country. I primarily grew up in Woodland...
